Lenelle Moïse creates jazz-infused, hip-hop bred, politicized performance texts about Haitian-American identity, creative resistance and the intersection of race, class, gender, sexuality, memory and magic. Moïse is a Huntington Theatre Company Playwriting Fellow. Her two-act comedy, Merit, won the 2012 Southern Rep Ruby Prize. She also wrote, composed, and co-starred in the critically-acclaimed drama, Expatriate, which launched Off Broadway at the Culture Project. Lenelle was the fifth Poet Laureate of Northampton, MA. She independently released two CDs, Madivinez andThe Expatriate Amplification Project. Her first book, Haiti Glass, is forthcoming from the City Lights Sister Spit imprint on April 1, 2014.
