After participating in the 1963 Vancouver poetry conference, Roy MacSkimming co-published Shoot Low Sheriff, They’re Riding Shetland Ponies with Ottawa poet William Hawkins. Since then MacSkimming has published four novels, most recently Macdonald and Laurier in Love. One of his three non-fiction books, The Perilous Trade: Publishing Canada’s Writers was a Globe & Mail Best 100 Book of the Year and a finalist for the National Business Book Award. MacSkimming has been a publisher, books editor for The Toronto Star, and policy director of the Association of Canadian Publishers.
